Store description excerpt

HomeBell is a simple hourly chime clock for Android. It plays a distinctive tone pattern at the top of each hour so you can tell the time without looking at your phone — useful at your desk, while cooking, or when you want gentle time awareness through the day. HOW THE CHIME WORKS Each hour is encoded on a 12-hour clock using long and short tones: every long tone counts as 5, every short tone as 1, with long tones first. For example, 11:00 is two long plus one short; 12:00 is two long plus two short. Tap “Test chime now” anytime to hear a preview. HOURLY CHIMES Tap Start to begin hourly chimes. They keep running in the background with a persistent notification that shows HomeBell is active. Tap Stop to turn hourly chimes off. Use “Skip next chime” to silence just the upcoming hour once, then resume as normal. INTERVAL REMINDERS Optional reminders play a softer double-tone on a fixed schedule — for example every 15, 20, or 30 minutes — aligned to the clock (e.g. every 20 minutes at :00, :20, and :40). Handy for breaks, hydration, stretching, or the 20-20-20 eye-care rule. Interval reminders respect quiet hours and can run alongside hourly chimes. QUIET HOURS & SILENT MODE Set a daily quiet window when HomeBell stays silent. On Android you can also choose to respect the phone’s silent, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb mode — or override it so chimes still play like a clock alarm. NOTIFICATION CONTROLS Control HomeBell: skip the next chime or stop chimes entirely. Your preferences are saved on device. PRIVACY HomeBell stores settings locally on your phone only. No account, no analytics, no data collection. RELIABLE BACKGROUND OPERATION HomeBell uses exact alarms so chimes and reminders can fire even when the app is closed. Android requires a visible notification while the service is running. On some devices you may need to allow “Alarms & reminders” and exclude HomeBell from aggressive battery optimization for the most reliable hourly behavior. Stay oriented through the day — one chime at a time.
