The Home Assessment application was developed by the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital's Research and Innovation team as an alternative to physical home assessments conducted by the therapists to assess and measure potential areas for home improvements. This application allows family members and caregivers to scan areas of the home on a device with a LiDAR scanner, which is then given to therapists who will take measurements from the provided scans. After comparing the results of the Home Assessment application with the physical measurements of various areas, it was found that the accuracy of the Home Assessment application was sufficient (+/- 1 inch). The Home Assessment application contains a 3D Scanner that utilizes the iPad Pro’s built-in LiDAR scanner and camera to map and colour objects. Additionally, the application contains a feature that allows for the viewing of scans and where measurements may be made.
