Store description excerpt

Your mother doesn't want another app. She wants to see your face. Hebra is a video phone built for one person - the parent or grandparent you call most. You set it up once on their iPad. After that there are no menus, no contact lists, no settings, and nothing to tap by mistake. One large green button fills the screen. They press it, and you answer. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pair the two devices. Their iPad becomes the Follower, your iPhone becomes the Leader. Enter the same six-digit code on both. It takes about thirty seconds, and you only ever do it once. 2. Either of you presses call. The other device rings like an ordinary phone call - even when the app is closed and the screen is locked. 3. Talk. The video fills the entire screen, edge to edge. No floating toolbars, no buttons to hunt for. Just a face, as large as the screen allows. BUILT FOR SOMEONE WHO SHOULDN'T HAVE TO LEARN ANYTHING - One button. The call button is the whole screen, not a small target in a corner. - No reading required. The Follower screen carries almost no text. Colour, size and sound carry the meaning instead. - It rings like a real phone. Hebra uses Apple's own CallKit and PushKit, so an incoming call shows the familiar green and red phone screen and wakes the iPad from any state. No more missed calls because the app wasn't open. - Nothing to break. There is no settings screen to wander into, no account to get logged out of, and no contact list to delete by accident. - Made for poor eyesight. Maximum contrast, very large targets, and slow, calm motion. FOR THE PERSON SETTING IT UP Your iPhone shows you what you need to know before you call: whether their device is online, when it was last seen, how much battery it has left, and whether the volume is actually turned up - which is the reason calls go unanswered more often than any other. WORKS ON A SLOW CONNECTION Hebra prefers a direct connection between the two devices and falls back to a relay when the network won't allow one. If bandwidth collapses, video quality drops but the conversation continues - audio is never sacrificed. A data-saver mode is there for connections that need it. PRIVACY - No account. No sign-up, no password, no phone number, no email address. - No data collected. Hebra has no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers of any kind. - Nothing stored. There is no chat, no message history, no call recording and no voicemail, because none of those features exist. - Encrypted directly between the two devices. Audio and video are end-to-end encrypted. When a relay is needed, it forwards encrypted traffic that it cannot read. WHAT HEBRA DELIBERATELY DOES NOT DO No text chat. No photo sharing. No group calls. No social feed. No contact list. No advertising. It is a video phone between two devices, and that is the entire product. Hebra needs two devices - typically your iPhone and their iPad - and an internet connection on both.
