Learn to recognize high-frequency Mandarin Chinese vocabulary and Japanese Jōyō kanji without clutter. Hanzi Blitz presents one word at a time and asks you to identify its pronunciation and meaning from six carefully selected choices. Compound words are tested character by character, helping you understand both the complete word and the characters inside it. Switch between two completely independent learning tracks. Chinese includes pinyin, Simplified and Traditional forms, and compound words. Kanji includes Japanese on'yomi and kun'yomi readings for all 2,136 Jōyō kanji. Each track keeps its own progress, statistics, hidden items, and review schedule. The review system models each word separately. Correct recalls strengthen a word over time, while missed words return sooner. Reviews are triggered by both elapsed time and the number of new words you have studied, so older material stays active even during fast study sessions.
