Groat is an expense tracker with one job: record what you spent before you forget it. Type the amount. Tap the category. Done — two taps, from the screen the app opens on. WHAT IT DOES • Log an expense in two taps, without opening a form • 19 categories to start with, every one editable — name, icon and colour • Backdate an expense to any past day, and add a note when you want one • Day, month and year reports with a clear breakdown by category • Export everything to CSV or Excel and send it wherever you like • Light and dark, following your phone or pinned to either STAYS OUT OF THE WAY No account. No bank connection. No sync, no subscription, no ads, no analytics. Your expenses live in a database on your phone and go nowhere else unless you export them yourself. TOTALS THAT ARE ACTUALLY RIGHT Amounts are stored as whole cents rather than decimals that drift, so a year of expenses adds up exactly. Category percentages are worked out to sum to 100 instead of to 98. An expense is stamped with the calendar date you spent it, so it stays on that date when you travel. EXPORTS THAT OPEN PROPERLY The Excel export carries real date and number cells, so sorting, filtering and pivot tables work the moment the file opens — and it includes a category summary sheet alongside the raw expenses. The CSV is plain and unambiguous, and opens correctly in Excel on Windows as well as everywhere else. A groat is an English fourpenny coin, struck from 1279 and demonetised in 1856.
