Store description excerpt

Giornale di Scavo is the digital replacement for the paper excavation diary. It is built for one thing: documenting a dig quickly, in the field, with no signal and no server. THE DIARY WRITES ITSELF Every day is a page, and everything you record that day — notes, weather, attendance and hours, survey points, drawings, photos, finds — is collected onto it automatically. Nothing is copied twice: the weather where you are is filled in with one tap, and the diary can be dictated, with transcription entirely on the device. FINDS, WITH THE TRAYS IN FRONT OF YOU At the end of the day you record what came out: provenance, class, quantity, code, and the state from washing to hand-over. The record opens with today's date and the last provenance already filled in: twenty trays go in one after another. Export to CSV, or to HTML with thumbnails. Free. COUNT AND MEASURE THE FINDS Photograph the tray from above: the app outlines the sherds, counts them and measures each one, longer side by shorter side. It looks for the scale bar itself and reads the label, but you confirm the count, tapping out whatever is not a find. A batch of photos is processed one after another (Pro). CENTIMETRE-LEVEL SURVEY A point with one tap, numbered automatically. The app reads the built-in GPS, MFi receivers such as Emlid Reach RX or Bad Elf, and Bluetooth NMEA receivers. With NTRIP the RTK corrections come in over the internet: centimetre accuracy without a second radio. Both ellipsoidal and orthometric heights are stored, antenna height already subtracted. 3D MEASUREMENT WITH LiDAR On devices with a scanner, two taps on a surface give distance, horizontal distance and height difference. Anchored to a benchmark of known height, the measurement also carries the elevation of both ends, and goes into the diary (Pro). BENCHMARKS AND LEVELLING Benchmarks by hand, from CSV or from the current RTK position, with live ΔNorth / ΔEast / ΔHeight deviations. And the levelling booklet for the optical level, with computed heights and closure check. MAPS, DRAWINGS AND PHOTOS Points on standard, satellite or hybrid basemaps, with WMS layers. Draw with Apple Pencil or your finger over a photo used as a tracing sheet, with convention hatches, line styles and automatic outline tracing. Photos are geotagged, remember which way you were facing, and can come out as a documentation record, with map and shooting direction (Pro). VIRTUAL SCALES AND VECTORS Two taps on a known distance and the photo takes a scale. From there you place scale bars, ranging poles, squares and a north arrow — on photos and on drawings — and measure any distance. Export with a legend, or as SVG and DXF: a DXF georeferenced in UTM places itself in your GIS (Pro). REPORTS READY TO HAND IN Daily, weekly, monthly and final reports as PDF or Word (DOCX), with your logo, photos and drawings. Points as CSV or GeoJSON for QGIS. Report language is chosen independently of the app's. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS No account, no cloud, n
