Store description excerpt

Gilli Danda: Call the Distance turns India's most-played street game into the friendliest way to learn estimation. Drag back, let go, and the gilli flies. Now the real move: CALL how far it went, in danda-lengths — before anything is measured. Then the danda walks it out along the ground, tip over tip, counting as it goes: 1, 2, 3, 4… past your call, or short of it. And here is the rule the whole game turns on, straight from the street: call it right and you score your call. Call short and you still score — but you left lengths out there. Call TOO FAR and you are out, with nothing. That asymmetry is the lesson. Guessing big costs everything; guessing timidly leaves points behind. Children learn to say a number they can actually defend — which is what estimating really means. FOUR WORLDS • Near & Far — nearer or farther than the flag? Which gilli flew farther? Comparison first. Free forever. • Call It — whole danda-lengths, with the walk counting each one out loud. • Half-Dandas — the gilli lands between the marks, so halves start to count. • Long Field — long throws measured by skip-counting: 2, 4, 6, 8… measurement becomes multiplication. THREE WAYS TO PLAY • Solo — innings of three strikes, at your own pace. There is no timer anywhere. • 2 Players — pass-and-play on one device: same field, same rule, most dandas called wins, best of three. • vs Kavva — race a friendly crow who strikes and calls under exactly the same rule you do, overcalls included, and can genuinely be beaten. MADE FOR SMALL HANDS • Big stepper buttons for the call; nothing depends on quick fingers. • However the gilli flies, the question is the same — the strike shapes the distance, never the difficulty. • A star for every innings; call all three exactly and you take all three. THOUGHTFULLY BUILT • 11 languages, with full right-to-left support for Arabic and Urdu. • 100% offline — no internet, no accounts, no ads, and no data collection, ever. • Free to start: the Near & Far world, every 2-player game, and every match against Kavva. One simple one-time unlock opens the other three worlds — yours forever. A stick, a small wooden peg, and a number you have to say out loud before anyone measures. Khelo!
