You add a guest to Saturday's dinner, and everything quietly catches up. The servings recalculate, a seat gets counted, the budget adjusts, and the prep tasks that guest creates appear where they belong. That's the whole idea: the parts of a gathering aren't separate lists, they lean on each other, and Gather Grid keeps them in step. Start by creating the event — dinner, birthday, game night, whatever it is — with a date, a guest count, and a rough budget. Then bring in your people. Guests live in a directory you build once, with their dietary needs, allergies, and the seat by the door someone always needs, so next time they're one tap away. Build the menu and it does the arithmetic. A dish carries its servings and ingredients, and those ingredients flow into the shopping plan, merged across dishes when the units match and left separate when they don't. Mark an allergy on a guest and a dish that clashes, and it flags the conflict plainly, then leaves the decision to you. It won't tell you a dish is medically safe, because that's not its call. Lay out the space as zones — entrance, dining, drinks, a quiet corner, a kids' area. Assign what each needs from your home inventory, and if the seats don't cover the confirmed guests, it says so, by how many. The things you don't own turn up in the shopping plan; the things you buy can join your inventory afterwards, so the next event starts further along. Everything with a cost lands on the budget board with planned against actual, and everything with a deadline lands on a timeline that sorts itself into a week before, the day before, the morning of, and during. It flags a dish that won't be ready in time or a task with nobody assigned. Before the day, a readiness check pulls every open problem into one place — unanswered guests, an allergy clash, seats short, items unbought — and each one links straight to where you fix it. You can't hit "ready" with a critical issue open unless you say so on purpose. Then Live Mode runs the day itself: what's now, what's next, who just arrived. A task runs late, and it offers new times for whatever depended on it. It keeps working after your phone locks.
