Gate Gap — Will You Make the Connection? There's a number on your itinerary that says you have 1 hour 55 minutes between flights. That number is a lie, or at least it's not the whole truth. It doesn't know your arrival gate is in T2 and your next flight leaves from T4. It doesn't count the passport queue, the bus, or the bag you have to grab and check in again because you booked the two flights separately. Gate Gap works out the connection you actually have to make, not the one printed on the ticket. You build the trip flight by flight. For each connection, the app pulls the layover apart into the pieces that eat your time: getting off the plane, changing terminal, passport control at that hour, baggage reclaim and recheck if your tickets are separate, security again, the walk to the gate, and the fact that boarding closes twenty minutes before departure. Then it tells you plainly. "Realistic requirement: 2 h 42 m. You are short by 47 minutes." Not a green tick. Not a risk score out of ten. The actual reason. It treats one ticket and two tickets as different worlds, because they are. On a single ticket, a missed connection is the airline's problem to fix and your bag rides through. On separate tickets, a late first flight means the second one is yours to lose and nobody owes you a rebooking. Gate Gap says so in full sentences on the connection screen, where it matters, instead of hiding it in the small print you find out about at the desk. The clever part is that it learns your airports. The first time through, it uses standard figures. But you can note that passport control at Madrid is twenty minutes at seven in the morning and an hour at seven at night, and that the inter-terminal bus takes longer than the signs claim. Log what a transfer really took, and next time it does the maths on your number instead of an average. After a few trips it knows your connections better than any generic guide, because it's using your own stopwatch. On the day you fly, it turns into a different thing. A dark screen, big steps, one countdown at a time: leave home, check in, drop the bag, security, gate. Mark each as you clear it and it keeps score against the plan. If the first flight gets delayed, hit the button and it recomputes everything downstream, tells you which connections just died, and what to do about each one depending on how you booked.
