Store description excerpt
Most running apps are built to make you do more. Furlong will tell you to stop. It reads your running history from Apple Health, models the load you're actually carrying, and each morning tells you one thing: run this, or don't — and exactly why. WHY ANOTHER RUNNING APP Because the others are counting. Furlong is deciding. Tracking apps record what you did. Social apps show you what everyone else did. Neither knows the difference between the week you can absorb and the week that breaks you. Most running injuries don't come from a bad run — they come from a good week, stacked on another good week, at a moment your body hadn't caught up. That's the gap Furlong sits in. It's the app willing to say: not today. WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES • One recommendation each morning — distance, effort, or rest • The reason, always. Every suggestion shows the cause behind it • Sees a hard week coming before you feel it, and eases off first • Notices when you've reported a niggle, and holds the plan until it settles • Builds your long run deliberately instead of letting it drift • Trends that answer "am I actually fitter?" — not vanity charts • A week's plan you can see ahead, and revise when life moves NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE No account. No sign-up. No server. No feed. No ads. No analytics. Furlong contains no networking code at all — not "we promise not to look", but no mechanism to send anything anywhere. It reads from Apple Health, thinks on your phone, and writes to your phone. Your health data is nobody's business, including ours. BUILT ON PUBLISHED TRAINING-LOAD RESEARCH The model uses established sports-science measures of acute and chronic training load, plus the ratio between them, alongside your own history and reported effort. It's population-level evidence applied to one runner — and the app tells you when it's uncertain rather than pretending it isn't. WHO IT'S FOR Runners who've been hurt before and would rather not be again. People coming back from a break who don't trust themselves to start slow. Anyone who's followed a generic plan into an injury. Marathon and half-marathon trainers who need the long run to arrive intact. WHO IT'S NOT FOR If you want kudos, leaderboards, segments or a feed, this is the wrong app and you'll dislike it. If you want to be told to push harder every day, you'll dislike it more. IMPORTANT Furlong offers training guidance, not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent injury or any medical condition, and it cannot know what's happening in your body. Pain that persists, worsens, or changes how you move belongs to a doctor or physiotherapist — not to an app. Always seek professional advice before starting or changing an exercise programme.
