Store description excerpt

Should you fill up today, or wait a few days? Fuelcast answers that in one word on one screen, using public U.S. Energy Information Administration price data and the daily wholesale gasoline market. COMPLETELY FREE No subscription. No ads. No accounts. No trackers. Nothing to unlock, and no data sold about you. Fuelcast costs a couple of dollars a month to run regardless of how many people use it, so there is nothing here that has to be paid for later. IT REFUSES TO GUESS Roughly half of all weeks get no verdict at all. When the signal is weak, Fuelcast says "No clear signal." When prices are moving less than about 3 cents a gallon, it says "No real difference" — because that is smaller than the gap between two stations on the same road, and not worth changing your plans over. Refusing to call the coin-flip weeks is what makes the other weeks worth believing. IT SHOWS ITS RECORD Fuelcast keeps score of its own forecasts and shows you how they turned out — including the ones it got wrong. Calls are settled against the official weekly price survey, never against Fuelcast's own estimate. IT ADAPTS TO YOUR STATION Public price data is published by region, state, or metro area, never by street corner. So tell Fuelcast what you actually paid. After two entries it learns how far your usual station sits from the published average and adjusts the prices it shows you. Those prices never leave your phone. QUIET BY DESIGN Alerts are rising prices only, high confidence only, at least 3 cents a gallon, at most once every three days, and never at night. Falling prices drift down slowly, so there is no moment to catch and no reason to interrupt you. WHAT IT WON'T DO • It won't tell you which station nearby is cheapest. No free, legitimate source of station-by-station prices exists, and we won't build on scraped data. • It won't ask for your location. A ZIP code you type is all it uses. • It won't pretend to know more than it does. HOW IT WORKS Pump prices are surveyed once a week. Wholesale gasoline trades every day. Fuelcast anchors on the weekly survey and carries it forward using daily wholesale moves, so the call sharpens as the week goes on instead of sitting still. The model is fitted on decades of history and tested out-of-sample — never on data it had already seen. At the confidence levels Fuelcast is willing to act on, it has been right around 90% of the time. Every figure it shows is labelled as either measured or estimated, and the full method is readable in the app. United States only. Requires iOS 17 or later. Fuelcast is a product of Risoris Group LLC.
