Store description excerpt
Fill up now, or wait a few days? Fuel Forecast answers that one question at a glance. Pump prices follow wholesale gasoline with a lag of a week or two, because stations price off what it costs to replace the fuel in their tanks. Fuel Forecast watches public wholesale price data every day and forecasts whether U.S. average gas prices are likely to rise, fall, or hold steady over the next 3–7 days. ONE GLANCE • A single indicator: likely to rise, likely to fall, or likely steady • A clear confidence level: high, medium, or low • A plain advice line: fill up soon, no rush, or buy whenever THE DETAIL WHEN YOU WANT IT • Every forecast shows the exact numbers that produced it, in plain language • A chart of recent wholesale futures against the weekly U.S. average pump price • Links to the live public source data, so you can check the math OPTIONAL PRICE-RISE ALERTS • Get a notification when the forecast turns to rising • Alerts are generated on your device by a once-a-day background check • Never an alert for steady or falling — no notification noise PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE Fuel Forecast has no account, server, ads, analytics, or tracking, and never asks for your location. Its only network activity is downloading two public price series — daily RBOB gasoline futures closes and EIA's weekly U.S. average pump price — the same data anyone can open in a browser. The forecast is computed and cached on your iPhone, so the app also works offline. HONEST ABOUT ITS LIMITS The forecast is for the U.S. average; your local station also reflects local taxes and competition. It is a simple, transparent statistical model — good at the ordinary week-to-week drift of prices, blind to sudden refinery or supply shocks. Confidence drops when its signals conflict, and the app says so. Fuel Forecast is an informational aid, not financial advice.
