Flugumferð shows the aircraft flying over Iceland right now, on a live map built from our own network of ADS-B receivers around the country. Tap any aircraft to see where it came from and where it is going, its altitude, speed and heading, the aircraft type, and often a photograph of that exact airframe. LIVE MAP • Every aircraft we can hear, updated continuously • Colour-coded by altitude and rotated to true heading • Filter to airliners, private jets, cargo, military, coast guard or emergency traffic • Follow one aircraft, or let the map frame all the traffic by itself AIRPORTS • Arrivals and departures for Keflavík, Reykjavík, Akureyri, Egilsstaðir, Ísafjörður and the other Icelandic airports • Live weather at each airport: raw METAR and TAF, with a decoder that turns the codes into plain language • Runway in use, wind, visibility and cloud NEAR YOU • "Look up!" uses your location and the compass to work out which aircraft are above your horizon right now, with bearing and elevation — point your phone at a contrail and find out what it is • Find your nearest airport and see which flights connect it with Iceland DIG DEEPER • Aircraft type catalogue with specifications, photographs and video • The Icelandic aircraft register • Records, statistics and top lists — fastest, highest, busiest • On-time performance for Icelandic routes • Search by flight number, registration or callsign ICELANDIC AND ENGLISH Pick either language with one tap, and the app remembers your choice. WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM Flugumferð is built on ADS-B receivers we run ourselves, here in Iceland. Coverage therefore reflects what is genuinely audible from the ground — aircraft that do not broadcast ADS-B, or that fly beyond the reach of our receivers, will not appear. ALERTS (OPTIONAL) • Get a notification when an aircraft squawks an emergency code over Iceland, when the Coast Guard goes airborne, or when a notable aircraft passes overhead • Off by default, three separate switches, and nothing is ever sent for marketing PRIVACY No advertising, no third-party analytics, no tracking. Your location is used only when you ask for it, and only to work out what is near you. Flugumferð is free.
