Store description excerpt

Flock Clocker maps where government surveillance cameras are deployed across the United States and shows the public contracts and spending that pay for them, all from public records. Automated license plate readers (ALPR) and similar surveillance camera systems record the movements of millions of ordinary drivers, the overwhelming majority never suspected of any crime. They are spreading fast, often funded through government procurement and approved in city council meetings most residents never see. Flock Clocker mines those public records nationwide, government procurement filings, council agendas, and cooperative-purchasing records, and puts what it finds on a searchable public map backed by cited sources. Mass surveillance, made legible. CIVIC TRANSPARENCY, ON THE RECORD This is a public-records transparency and accountability tool. Flock's network was built to follow the movements of millions of drivers. Flock Clocker was built to do the opposite: it maps the contracts, not the cars. It does not track anyone, scan plates, route around anything, or show real-time positions. Coverage is displayed as generalized area zones, never exact pinpoint locations. We map infrastructure and public spending, not people. FREE - A nationwide surveillance camera coverage map, shown as generalized coverage areas. - Coverage near you or near any address you search. Know what your city signed up for. - Per-area detail: camera count, operating agency, deployment status (deployed, under contract, proposed, or vote scheduled), and a link to the public record behind it. - Follow the public money: the contracts and public spending that fund the cameras. - One saved area. - A free report-an-inaccuracy channel on every record. - Our published methodology and provenance pages. No account is required to use the free map. EVERY RECORD TRACES TO ITS SOURCE Every record carries its source and confidence. Confirmed deployments, contracted plans, and community sightings stay clearly separate. Community sightings come from OpenStreetMap and are labeled "community sighting, unverified." Built to be checked, not believed. WATCH (coming soon) Notifications when coverage changes in areas you care about, including newly proposed deployments and renewal votes. Multiple watched areas. Basic coverage history. PRO (coming soon) The full contract and spending layer, historical coverage trends, agency and jurisdiction analytics, and data export with provenance intact. For journalists, researchers, attorneys, and advocacy organizations. PRIVACY No account needed for the free map. Location is used only while the app is open, to center the map near you. There are no advertising or tracking SDKs in this app. We never sell or share your location or any other personal data, to anyone, in any form. DATA SOURCES AND LICENSING U.S. government procurement and public meeting records, cited per record. Community sightings from OpenStreetMap, (c) OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the
