The Dameli language, also known as Damia, Damɛ̃ḍī, Dāmia bāṣa, or Gidoj, is an Indo-Aryan language belonging to the Dardic subgroup. Here are some key facts about it: Classification: It is an Indo-Aryan language of the Dardic subgroup, which is part of the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European family. Location: Dameli is primarily spoken in the Domel Valley (or Damel Valley) in the Chitral District of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The valley is located about ten miles south of Drosh on the east side of the Chitral/Kunar River. Speakers: The number of native speakers is relatively small, estimated to be around 5,000 (according to a 2001 estimate).
