Store description excerpt

Updated every day from CDFW. Works with no signal. Creel tells California saltwater anglers which fishing regulations apply right now, for your region, today, plus the tide times and season dates for your next trip. CURRENT REGULATIONS BY REGION See every species' status, open, closed, or partially closed, across every California ocean region. Tap any species for bag limits, size limits, open seasons, gear rules and depth restrictions, pulled from CDFW and refreshed daily. Creel leads with what's OPEN, not what's closed. Rockfish, lingcod, cabezon, halibut, salmon, crab, lobster, abalone and dozens more, color-coded so you know at a glance whether you're good to fish. TIDE TIMES, SUNRISE, SUNSET AND MOON NOAA tides for the station nearest your stretch of coast: the next high tide and low tide, with times and heights. Sunrise, sunset and tonight's moon phase sit on the same screen, so you can plan the best fishing times for tomorrow morning without leaving the app. The tide chart is cached and still works with no signal. ALERTS THE DAY IT CHANGES Turn alerts on and Creel notifies you the moment a species opens or closes in your region, when CDPH publishes a shellfish advisory, and when CDFW issues an emergency in-season rule change. Tap the alert and you land on the species or the advisory. Nothing else is ever sent, and you can switch them off in Settings. WHAT A CITATION ACTUALLY COSTS Not sure a fish is legal? Check the fine before it goes in the bag. Creel shows penalty exposure per species, what a Fish and Game violation runs once the court adds its charges, and the two ways a charge gets cheaper. WORKS 30 MILES OFFSHORE Every fishing regulation is cached on your phone before you leave the dock. No cell service, no problem: your regulations, tides, MPA boundaries and advisories are still right there. HEALTH ADVISORIES AND WHAT'S SAFE TO EAT CDFW closes and reopens fisheries mid-season with days of notice, and CDPH issues shellfish consumption warnings all year. Creel tracks both next to the species they affect, and carries OEHHA's safe eating advice, so you know how much of your catch is safe to eat. MARINE PROTECTED AREAS, ON A REAL MAP Pan and zoom California's MPA boundaries, or search any MPA by name. SMR, SMCA and special closures, with the rules for each one and boundaries that aren't signposted at the parking lot. SEASONS, RUNS AND THE FINE PRINT A season calendar of what opens and closes next, with a countdown and a reminder the day before. Ocean salmon seasons by management area. Grunion run schedules with exact dates and hours. Statewide ocean rules: gear, methods, filleting at sea, measuring your catch. Plus CDFW's own PDFs, readable offline inside the app. WHY CREEL Creel doesn't try to cover fifty states. It covers one, properly. California's fishing rules change constantly and live across dozens of dense government pages, and out-of-date regulations cost people fish, money and citations. Every region and every ocean sp
