Felek teaches you to read a Turkish coffee cup. Not a verdict from an app: the actual vocabulary, 85 traditional symbols, what each one has meant, and where in the cup it tends to sit. Every symbol page opens with a photograph of grounds that fell that way, so you learn the shape by seeing it, not by reading a description of it. A COURSE, NINE LESSONS Start with the map of the cup: the handle holds love and relationships, the rim opposite it holds work and money, the bottom holds home and the private parts of a life. Then the signs, common ones first, rare ones later. Each lesson ends with a check, and your progress is kept. GUIDED PRACTICE Six real cups come with the app, so there is something to practise on the minute you install it. Spot the symbol, say which part of the cup it sits in, and get told what the tradition says about it. Your own past cups become practice material too. THE SYMBOL LIBRARY All 85 signs, searchable, each with its meaning, whether it reads well or badly, how often it turns up, and the zones it favours. Anchor to wheel, bird to snake. WHERE THE MEANINGS COME FROM Turkish coffee culture has been on UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2013, and cup reading has always been part of it. Felek cites six sources you can open and read: UNESCO, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a Ministry history of Turkish coffee culture, Korkman's Duke University Press ethnography, the Pera Museum, and BBC Travel. For centuries this was less about what comes next and more about women talking to each other sideways, through birds and roads and mountains in the grounds. THE RITUAL When you want to do it properly: brew in a cezve, drink it down, make a wish, swirl, and turn the cup onto the saucer. A timer covers the wait while the grounds settle. READ YOUR OWN CUP Once the shapes are familiar, photograph your own grounds. Felek names what it sees in the vocabulary you just learned and says where it sits, plainly. Every reading is saved to a private journal, so recurring shapes are easy to notice over months. WHAT COSTS MONEY Learning is free. The lessons, the practice, the library, the tradition, and a free reading every day, all free. Two optional one-time purchases, priced in your own currency and shown before you buy: a full reading, which is four parts plus the complete symbol cast, and a personalized reading written around your name and one question. Never a subscription. Each one is bought per cup, so you pay only for the cups that matter. WHO IT IS FOR People who would rather learn something than be told what happens next. Coffee drinkers, travellers who met Turkish coffee somewhere and never forgot it, and anyone curious about a living tradition. You do not need to believe any of it to enjoy learning it.
