FamilyTree records a family tree on your phone, and nowhere else. There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and no analytics. Your tree lives in the app's own private storage, and it leaves the device only when you export it or back it up yourself. BUILT ON GEDCOM 5.5.1 Import a .ged file from any genealogy program, edit it here, and export it again without losing a single tag. Vendor tags the app has no editor for — _UID, _MILT, _APID and the rest — are kept with their nesting and their order intact, and are shown by name wherever the app can name them. This is enforced by tests rather than asserted: a file is imported, exported and compared tag by tag, then re-imported and compared again. WHAT YOU CAN RECORD • People, families, and the relationships between them • Events with real GEDCOM dates: approximate, before, after, between, from–to, double years, B.C. • Names, places, occupations, notes, sources, repositories and submitters • Photographs, documents and PDFs, attached to the person, family or record they belong to THE DIAGRAM An interactive family diagram, drawn from the tree's own structure. Pan and zoom, re-centre on anyone, and decide how much to draw: ancestor and descendant generations, uncles, aunts and cousins, siblings and nephews, partners, and small markers that say how many people a limit is hiding. Long-press a card to open a profile, add a relative, link someone already in the tree, edit, or unlink. Export the diagram as a PNG, a PDF or an SVG. PHOTOGRAPHS, WHERE THEY ALREADY ARE Point the tree at the folder your photographs already live in, and every file it names is found there — nothing is copied and nothing is uploaded. Or import a picture and crop it in the app. A portrait then shows on the person's card, in the lists, and in the diagram. BACK UP, RESTORE, SHARE A backup is one ZIP file holding the manifest, the GEDCOM and the media together, so it is a restore point and an export at the same time. Restoring always creates a new tree; it never overwrites the one you have. Share a tree with a relative as a file, receive their version back, and review every single difference — add, replace, remove — before anything is merged. BIRTHDAY REMINDERS A daily note about the birthdays of living relatives, worked out on the device, at a time you choose. THREE LANGUAGES English, Turkish and Arabic, complete on every screen, with right-to-left layouts. The typeface is a setting, and so is the theme; Android 12's wallpaper colours can be switched off so that the colours which carry meaning keep carrying it. FREE, AND ONE OPTIONAL PURCHASE Everything needed to record and keep a family tree is free, and there are no adverts. One optional one-time purchase unlocks automatic merging of two trees — candidate matching, match propagation across parents and partners, and cross-reference conflict resolution — which is the part that otherwise costs hours of comparing by hand.
