et al. lets you highlight passages in Safari, add notes, and keep the sources in a searchable Library. It works on Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Highlight and take notes Highlights you save in Safari keep a link to the page they came from. You can return to the original page whenever you need more context. The free version includes four highlight colors and custom labels. Import your existing highlights Import supported CSV, Markdown, and JSON annotation files. et al. shows you a preview before it adds anything and skips duplicates when you import the same file again. It reads the selected file on your device. If iCloud Sync is on, imported items sync with the rest of your Library. Search, organize, and export Search across your highlights and notes, then organize them with folders and tags. You can export your Library as Markdown or CSV, print it, or keep a local backup. Create citations APA 7 and MLA 9 citations for an individual source are free. et al. Pro adds Chicago 18 Author-Date and IEEE citations, multi-source bibliographies, and downloads for BibTeX, RIS, and CSL-JSON. Ask questions about your Library On supported devices, et al. Pro can answer questions using your saved highlights and notes. It shows the passages that support each answer and uses Apple's on-device models. Your Library is not sent to us. Privacy and iCloud Sync et al. has no ads or tracking, and you do not need to create an account. Your Library stays on your devices. If you turn on iCloud Sync, it is kept in your private iCloud database and stays available across Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Free and et al. Pro et al. is free to download and use. et al. Pro adds four more highlight colors along with the citation and Ask features described above. It is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription. One purchase works on Mac, iPhone, and iPad when you use the same Apple Account. Your purchase helps support et al.'s continued development. Requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. Ask also needs supported hardware running iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later.
