Here is exactly what it is used for, and what it is not. WHY IT IS NEEDED The core feature is drawing your chosen design on top of the system status bar. On Android, an app window can only be placed over the status bar through an AccessibilityService (window type TYPE_ACCESSIBILITY_OVERLAY). No narrower permission can do this — the "Display over other apps" permission (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) is not allowed to cover the status bar area. That is why the app registers an accessibility service named "Status Bar Theme Overlay". WHAT THE SERVICE DOES It draws the battery, Wi-Fi, signal and clock design you selected over the status bar, and refreshes it as your battery level, connection and the time change. That is all. WHAT THE SERVICE DOES NOT DO • It does not read, record, store or transmit the content of your screen. The service is declared with android:canRetrieveWindowContent="false", so Android never hands screen content to it. • It does not track which apps you open, and it does not capture anything you type. • It does not perform gestures, taps or any action on your behalf. • It does not change any of your device settings. • It never prevents you from disabling the service or uninstalling this app. • It collects no personal or sensitive data, and sends nothing off your device. YOUR CONSENT AND YOUR CONTROL Before the app ever sends you to the Accessibility settings screen, it shows a disclosure describing this use, with two clear choices — "I agree" and "No, thanks". If you decline, nothing is requested, and you can still browse and design themes in the app. You always switch the service on yourself in Settings > Accessibility, and you can switch it off there at any time; your original status bar
