The application will calculate the environmental impact of planned meals based on the water, CO2 and ecological footprint of the food/ingredients that make up the preparations of a menu. Nutritionists, Nutrition students or anyone who wants to assess the environmental impact of their meal can download and use this unique and exclusive tool. The production of meals has an important contribution to environmental degradation through its process (use of food, its transformation and subsequent distribution of meals) and, much earlier, the planning of menus is a decisive activity in the production of meals with less environmental impact . This tool, developed by the Laboratory of Sustainability in Meal Production ( LASUPRE ) of the Josué de Castro Nutrition Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (INJC-UFRJ), will help you to assess the environmental impacts of planned meals based on the calculations. of water, CO2 and ecological footprints of the food/ingredients that will make up the menus. Results will be obtained by food/preparation and by meal, so that they can contribute to planning menus with less environmental impact. By entering the food/ingredients that make up each preparation, the application will calculate the footprints for you, speeding up the process of obtaining the results.
