Store description excerpt

Tick off the mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates you spot along Australia's east coast. East Coast Wildlife Checklist turns a walk, a drive or a guided eco-tour into a record you keep. Browse a curated checklist of east coast species, mark the ones you have seen, add the date and your own notes, and watch your list grow trip after trip. Built by Vision Walks Eco Tours for guests on our small-group wildlife walks, and open to anyone exploring the region. What you can do • Browse by group — Mammals, Birds, Reptiles and Invertebrates, with sub-groups so related species sit together. • Mark a sighting — one tap records that you have seen a species, then add the date and a note of your own. • Keep private notes — where you were, what the animal was doing, who you were with. Your notes are visible only to you. • Open a species — see its photograph and credit, its scientific name, a short automatically generated description, and a distribution map where we hold range data for it. • Explore the map — pan an interactive map of distribution ranges across all four groups, colour-coded by group. • Add species we missed — create your own entry, attach a photo, and tag where you found it if you want to. • Search instantly — find any species by name as you type. • Track your progress — a running count of how many species you have recorded. Browsing is anonymous You can browse the whole checklist, open any species and use the map without an account. A free account is only needed to save your sightings, your dates and your notes, so that they follow you between devices. Designed for the field Large tap targets for one-handed use. Pull down to refresh. Follows your device's Dark Mode for dawn and dusk starts. Laid out to stay clear of the notch and the home indicator. Your checklist is yours Your sightings, your notes and any species you add are private to your account and are never shown to other users. There is no feed, no messaging and no user profiles. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from the profile screen. What we ask permission for • Photos and camera — only when you tap "Add photo" to attach a picture to a species you add yourself. • Location — only when you tap "Tag my location" while adding a species, so the sighting sits in the right place on the map. Your location is never read in the background and is never shared with other users.
