Store description excerpt
Hear an everyday sound. Name it in as few listens as you can. A new sound every day. Tap the orb, listen, then type what you heard into the boxes — one box per letter, one row per word. Replays are free, so the score isn't whether you got it. It's how few listens it took. HOW TO PLAY • Tap the orb to hear today's sound. Replays are free. • Your score is how few listens it took — the dots under the orb count them. • Type the answer into the boxes. One box per letter, one row per word. • Six guesses, and a hint after three misses. A new sound every day. WHAT YOU'LL HEAR 74 everyday sounds and counting, across 13 categories — home, animals, kitchen, vehicles, tools, music, nature, tech. A dial-up modem. A champagne cork. Velcro. A woodpecker. A geiger counter. Windscreen wipers, at one speed too fast. Every clip is five seconds, so a round takes about a minute. Some land instantly. Some you will swear you know and still fail to name, which is the whole game. KEEP A STREAK Solve today's sound to extend your streak. Your record tracks games played, win rate, best streak, and how many listens your wins usually take. Share the result as an emoji grid that gives away the shape of your round and never the answer. Want another one? Practice rounds pull a random sound from the catalogue and never count toward your streak. NO ACCOUNT, NO INTERNET Every sound ships inside the app. There is no sign-up, no login, no cloud and nothing to restore. Play it on a plane. Your streak and stats live on your phone and nowhere else. Earwitness is free. It shows one banner on the play screen and one full-screen ad after you close a result — never before the answer is on screen, and never on your first solve. A LISTENING GAME Earwitness needs audio, and headphones make the quiet clips much fairer. There is no visual substitute for the sound yet. Sounds come from the Freesound community under CC0 and CC-BY licences. Full credits are in the app, under Settings.
