Store description excerpt
Ear Tuner is a game with no end — because your ear can always get better. Ear Tuner plays two notes. You tap the one you think is higher. The app quickly finds your threshold — the point where two notes are so close together you can barely tell them apart — and keeps testing you right at your limit. Research shows that this kind of targeted practice, done regularly, sharpens your ability to hear small differences in pitch. Built for fiddlers, violinists, and any musician who wants better intonation: • Adaptive difficulty. Ear Tuner homes in on the smallest pitch difference you can reliably hear and keeps you there — no reps wasted being too easy or too hard. • Per-note scoring. The app remembers your best score for every note and favors your weakest notes when choosing what to test next. Retest any note on demand. • Measured in cents. See your acuity as a number. An untrained ear may need 10–20 cents to tell two notes apart; an average musician 5–6; a top-notch fretless string player only 2–3. • Hands-free voice commands. Say "higher" or "lower" to answer, "replay" to hear the notes again, "settings" or "info" to go there. From the info screen, say "retest C sharp four" to drill a specific note. Recognition runs entirely on your device. • Eyes-free play. Tap the lower part of the screen to replay; swipe to continue or retry. Practice with your eyes closed — "intonation meditation" — in the car or a recliner. • Choose your instrument. Train with a range of instrument sounds. • Private by design. No account, no tracking, no ads. Your scores stay on your device. Ear Tuner was inspired by the InTune app and Molly Gebrian's tips for improving intonation. Enjoying it? An optional tip jar helps support development — but Ear Tuner is free and fully featured.
