Store description excerpt

I built this app because all of the different weight loss strategies I tried inevitably failed for one reason or another. In this app I fix all of those issues. The biggest one: my hypothalamus is wrong. It tells me to eat 500 to 1,000 more calories every day than I actually need. After years of fighting it and losing, I fired my hypothalamus and built a new one. An external one, on my phone. That's where the name comes from. E-HT (External Hypothalamus) is a deliberately simple calorie tracker for people who want sustainable weight loss without rearranging their entire life around it. No special diet. No 10,000-step quotas. No two-hour gym sessions. Just keep your energy in and energy out balanced toward your goal, and let the math do the work. A big reason past methods failed me was friction. Logging every meal in detail is exhausting, and the moment it stops being effortless, you stop doing it. E-HT cuts the friction down to almost nothing. Speak or type a quick description of what you ate, including the portion, and the app fills in the calories and macros for you. Repeat meals are one tap. The faster you can log, the more honest the day's picture stays. The other reason past methods failed: motivation collapses long before the scale moves. So I built the feedback loop I wished I had. Every meal and every workout instantly shifts a live estimate of how much weight you're losing or gaining that day. Watching that number tick in real time turns the slow grind of a deficit into something you can actually feel happening. My motivation has never been higher. I also rebuilt how the app talks to you about food. Calories under your target glow green. Calories over glow red. That small visual choice quietly redirects the dopamine hit away from eating and toward staying in the green. Once you've felt it, you can't unfeel it. Because I wanted this to work on low energy days, the app doesn't punish you for not exercising. You can sustain a calorie deficit purely through what you eat. Workouts and steps absolutely help, but building your whole plan around a daily workout is unrealistic for most people, and a plan that falls apart the moment you skip a day isn't really a plan. Sustaining a deficit over months only works if your metabolism and energy hold up, and E-HT is built around protecting both. Eating at least your BMR every day and keeping your deficit between 10 and 15% has been the sweet spot for me: energy stays high, strength holds, unwanted weight still comes off, and your metabolism doesn't punish you for it later. The app estimates your current metabolic rate from your recent intake and weight trend, flags warnings when you're cutting too hard or running on too little food, and guides you toward refeeds and a gradual transition out of a deficit, so the weight you lose actually stays lost. Other features: • Body measurements, progress photos, and a smoothed weight trend line • Optional Health Connect integration: reads your daily steps (from yo
