Dua Simaat / The Supplication Simat Shaykh Tusi(RA), Sayyid ibn Tawus(RA) and Shaykh Kafami(RA) report that this dua, according to Muhammad ibn Uthman Umri(A), a reliable representative of Imam al-Hujjah(AJ), was taught by Imam Muhammad al-Baqir(A) and Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq(A). Allamah Majlisi(RA) says that all the pious religious scholars used to recite this dua. Shaykh Kafami(RA) says that this dua contains the Ism al-A’dham (the greatest name of Allah). Imam Muhammad al-Baqir(A) advised the faithfuls to recite this dua as it brings the downfall of the enemies of Ahl ul-Bayt(A). Imam Jafar as-Sadiq(A) said that Allah taught this dua to Prophet Musa(A) (Moses(A)) to overcome his enemies. Du'a Simat (Arabic: دعاء السمات), also known as Du'a Shobbur, is an Islamic supplication. This Du'a is mustahab (recommended) to be recited at sunset on Fridays. It is regarded as a prominent supplication. Most old Islamic scholars followed this practice. Muhammad al-Baqir, the fifth Imam of Shia Islam, said, 'I've spoken the truth if I swear to Allah that Ismul Azam is in this supplication." According to Allamah Mohammad Baqir Majlisi, the companions of the Prophet recited it regularly. Shaykh Tusi, Sayyid ibna Tawus and Kafami report that this dua'a, according to Muhammad ibn Uthman Umri, a reliable represetative of Imam Sahibuz Zaman, was taught by Imam Muhammad bin Ali Al Baqir and Imam Jafar bin Muhammad Al Sadiq. Allama Majlisi says that all the pious religious scholars used to recite this dua'a. Shaykh Kafami says that this dua'a contains ismi azam (the great name of Allah). Imam Muhammad bin Ali Al Baqir advised the faithfuls to recite this dua'a as it brings the downfall of the enemies of Ahl ul Bayt. Imam Jafar bin Muhammad Al Sadiq(as) said that Allah swt taught this dua'a to prophet Musa to overcome his enemies. This dua'a is particularly recited in the closing hours before sunset on Friday .
