Downsize opens straight into the camera. Photograph what you're about to eat and a few seconds later you have calories, protein, carbs, sugar, fat and fibre, filed under today. If the estimate doesn't match what's actually on your plate, nudge the portion. Half, one and a half, double. The numbers scale with it, and the original estimate is kept underneath, so changing your mind twice doesn't make the figure drift. You can type a note before you shoot. "Cooked in butter" or "small bowl" both change the answer. The day view adds up what you've eaten against calorie and protein targets you set yourself. Logging a meal is a photograph and one tap. There's no database to search and nothing to weigh. It doesn't track exercise, hand out streaks, or show you what anyone else had for dinner. About the estimates. A model looks at the photograph, works out what the food is and how much of it is there. On an ordinary plate it lands close. On something ambiguous, a heavy sauce or a big mixed bowl, it can be out, which is why the portion control and the note field are there. Weigh your food if you need a number you can trust to the gram. This is for knowing roughly what you ate today without spending five minutes typing it in. Sign in with Apple. Your log stays private to your account, and you can delete the whole thing, photographs included, from inside the app. Up to 15 analyses a day. Downsize Monthly is £2.99 a month and the first month is free. It renews each month until you cancel, and you cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions at least a day before it renews.
