Store description excerpt
Over 500 free narrated bedtime stories celebrating Black history and the heroes of Africa, the Caribbean and the diaspora. Every story is short - about 250 words, two or three minutes read aloud - and every one of them ends somewhere calm. Because it is the last thing heard before sleep. NO ADS. NO ACCOUNT NEEDED TO LISTEN. Every story published before August 2026 stays free forever - all 500 of them. Nothing that was free has been taken away. DjamgaMind Bedtime Premium is optional. It adds the new stories published from here on, plus offline downloads for the car, the plane and bedrooms the wifi does not reach. WHAT'S INSIDE - African legends from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Senegal, Mali and South Africa - Caribbean folktales, from Anansi the spider to Trinidad's steel pan - True lives told gently: Harriet Tubman following the North Star, Ruby Bridges walking to school at six, Rosa Parks and her quiet no, Katherine Johnson calculating a path to space - Scholars, leaders, musicians and athletes: Wangari Maathai, Thomas Sankara, Nelson Mandela, Cheikh Anta Diop, Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley, Queen Amanirenas - Prominent Black Canadians, Americans, Britons and Europeans - Gentle animal adventures and bedtime magic for the quietest nights EVERY STORY NARRATED Tap play and listen hands-free. Narration keeps going when the screen locks, so you can lie down in the dark and simply listen - no glowing screen at bedtime. WORKS WITH NO INTERNET AT ALL 100 stories are built into the app itself, not streamed. Read them and take the quiz on a plane, in the car, underground or anywhere the signal gives out - nothing is downloaded and nothing is fetched. Half are in English and half in French. The featured selection changes every week and every month, so there is always something new waiting. ENGLISH AND FRENCH Most stories are available in both English and French, each narrated by a native speaker. Useful for bilingual families and French-immersion classrooms. A growing number are also offered in Swahili, Yoruba, Hausa, Zulu, Amharic, Haitian Creole and Jamaican Patois. A NIGHTLY REMINDER Pick a time and the app will nudge you each evening when it is a story. The reminder is scheduled on your device and nothing is sent over the internet. FOR PARENTS, TEACHERS AND HOMESCHOOLERS Each story is paired with a short four-question quiz, so it doubles as a gentle comprehension exercise. Ideal for Black History Month read alouds, world-cultures units and read-aloud time. A progress view tracks reading streaks, stories read and screen-free listening minutes. WRITTEN WITH CARE Slavery and segregation are named honestly, in plain, unflinching words. Nothing is frightening, and every story ends somewhere calm. New stories are added regularly. DjamgaMind Bedtime is part of the DjamgaMind family. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
