DIS (Disability Information System) is the official mobile application of the Department of Social Services, Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, used to register persons with disabilities and manage the services provided to them. Field officers, registered doctors and office users can collect, verify, recommend and approve disability records and issue identity cards — all from one app. Key features • Secure sign-in with mobile number and OTP verification • Step-by-step registration form for a new person with disability • Photograph and signature capture • Correction and updating of a submitted form • Verification of disability type and degree by a registered doctor • Recommendation and forwarding to the next office • Referral of online submissions to the responsible Social Services Officer • Record lookup by form ID or National ID (NID) number • Browse the list of approved records • Generate, view and print the disability identity card • Directory of Social Services office addresses and contacts • User profile and profile photograph management • Summary disability statistics on the home screen • Immediate notice when the internet connection drops Disability types covered Physical disability, visual disability, hearing disability, deaf-blindness, speech disability, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism or autism spectrum disorder, disability caused by long-term mental illness, and multiple disabilities. Accessibility The app is being built for blind, low-vision and intellectually disabled users, following the WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines. The main screens are usable with the TalkBack screen reader — input fields carry readable labels, Bengali and English text is spoken in its own language, larger type and sufficient colour contrast are used, and buttons and icons are announced. This work continues across the remaining screens and improves with each update. Language Bengali is the primary language of the app. Because government forms require it, much of the information is displayed in both Bengali and English. The SolaimanLipi, Noto Sans Bengali and Hind Siliguri fonts are bundled with the app for correct Bengali typography. Data security and privacy Information collected in the app is used only for the government process of registering, verifying, approving and issuing identity cards to persons with disabilities. The app cannot be opened without OTP verification, and a user sees only the records within their own responsibility. See the privacy policy for details. Please note This is a departmental application intended for authorised users of the Department of Social Services.
