Store description excerpt

A pandemic threatens the lives of the people of the peaceful nation of Kalgana. Several new and deadly diseases have been discovered and are spreading quickly amongst the populous. As the nation’s regional director for disease control, the player has been put in charge of monitoring the situation and managing how treatments are distributed. Deadly Distribution is a turn-based strategy game based on actual epidemiology models and authentic statistical analysis. The game focuses on sample sizes, the Central Limit Theorem, and confidence intervals. Over the course of four missions, players will take sample studies of the population to get an idea of how far the disease has spread. Then, using their understanding of statistical concepts, players will analyze the data provided by their studies to determine which treatments to use and when to seal off regions to prevent outbreaks. Each action costs money, though, and money is a finite resource that must be managed as much as the disease itself. Winner of Best Web-Based game and 3rd Place overall at the 10th European Conference on Games Based Learning, 2016
