Day Return shows the next trains between your two stations. Not a route planner, not a search box — the board you actually wanted, already open. SET IT UP ONCE Choose the station you travel from and the station you travel to, anywhere on the National Rail network. Add a second or third station at either end if you have a choice of platforms within walking distance. That's the whole setup. LIVE, NOT SCHEDULED Departure times come from National Rail's Darwin feed — the same live data the screens on the platform use. Delays, cancellations and platform numbers appear as they happen, and the board refreshes itself every 45 seconds while you have it open. BOTH ENDS OF THE JOURNEY Every train shows when it leaves and when it gets to the other end, so you can tell the fast train from the stopper at a glance. The next train you can actually catch is highlighted, with a countdown in plain minutes. Cancelled trains stay on the board, struck through, and are never offered as your next train. KNOWS WHICH END YOU'RE AT The app picks whichever of your stations you're nearest and opens that board, pointed the right way — toward town in the morning, toward home in the evening. If you gave it two stations at one end, it shows how far you are from each, so you can decide which one to walk to. Prefer not to share your location? Deny it and pick a station by hand — everything else works the same. WORKS WHEN THE SIGNAL DOESN'T Lost connection in a tunnel or on the platform? The last board stays on screen with an honest "updated N minutes ago" note, rather than pretending it's current or wiping itself blank. QUIET BY DESIGN No account. No analytics. No advertising. No tracking. Your location never leaves your phone, and neither do your stations. Live departure data is supplied by Rail Delivery Group through the Rail Data Marketplace, from National Rail's Darwin service, and is provided as is with no representation as to its accuracy or fitness for any purpose.
