CSP SAFETY PREP: PASS YOUR BCSP CERTIFICATION EXAM The Certified Safety Professional exam has a 58 percent first-attempt pass rate. Candidates who fail are most often weak on incident rate calculations, ergonomics, workers compensation, and OSHA citation classification. INCIDENT RATE CALCULATOR TCIR: total OSHA recordable cases times 200,000 divided by total hours worked. DART: cases with days away, restricted, or job transfer times 200,000 divided by hours. Severity Rate: total days lost times 200,000 divided by hours. 200,000 hours equals 100 full-time employees working 50 weeks at 40 hours per week. Enter total cases, hours, and days lost to get all four rates with industry benchmark comparison. HIERARCHY OF CONTROLS GUIDE Level 1 — Elimination: remove the hazard. Most effective.
