Store description excerpt
Compass is a wheel of life you have to earn. Eight directions — body, mood, social, money, work, curiosity, nature, spirit. Answer twenty-four short questions about the past fortnight and the app draws your wheel from them. Nothing else moves it. There is no way to nudge a score because you felt like it, and no number the app invented on your behalf. A NEW INSTALL IS EMPTY The rose starts unmeasured: eight names, no shape. Plenty of apps hand you a filled-in example and hope you don't look closely. This one waits until it has something true to draw. WHAT'S HERE • A bearings check, whenever you want one. Twenty-four questions, asked in different words each time, so the fourth pass doesn't read like the first. • A record. Every check leaves a shape behind. Put them side by side and watch the picture move — you're comparing shapes, not marks out of ten. • The trailhead. Your lowest direction gets an amber ring, never a red one. It's a place to go and look, not a failure. • Field notes. Nine short pieces on what actually helps, each carrying its real citation. No folk wisdom, no "studies show". • A two-minute step for any direction, there the moment you want one. • The campfire. One line about the day, and then you put it down. It's kept, so you can read it back. The counter says nights at this campfire — never "day streak". • A map of summits: what you're climbing, what you've climbed, a season at a time. • A widget, so the wheel is on your home screen. WHERE YOU ACTUALLY STAND Optional, and off unless you turn it on. Five directions gain a second opinion from outside you — measured facts about the world rather than your judgement of yourself: • The air where you live, from satellite data • Your household income against every person alive, not against your countrymen • Working hours against the country you're in • How many people meet the activity guideline • How people where you live rate their own lives Every reading names its source, says which group it's comparing you to, and states what it cannot tell you. Three of the eight directions have nothing honest to compare against, and the app says so rather than inventing something. It needs one fact to work: which country you're in. Nothing leaves the phone. THE RULES IT KEEPS • No account, no sign-in, no cloud. Everything lives on your device. • No network requests at all — no analytics, no tracking, no third-party code. • No streaks, no badges, nothing nagging you back. One optional notice when the season turns, which you can decline. • Nothing is graded. The wheel carries no numbers on its face. You read shape. Compass is a reflective tool, not a medical or diagnostic one. Its questions were written for this app and are not a clinical instrument. If you are struggling, please talk to someone qualified.
