Store description excerpt

Wake up to a real cockerel crowing — or to birdsong, a marimba, or an old twin-bell alarm clock. Cockerel is a straightforward alarm clock that does the ordinary things well and adds two that most alarms get wrong: it wakes you gently, and it notices when you are already up. WAKE-UP SOUNDS Nine bundled sounds, from the gentlest to the most insistent: • Cockerel — the classic farmyard wake-up call • Dawn Chorus — woodland birdsong at first light • Twin Bell — an old mechanical alarm clock • Quartz Beep — the digital watch alarm • Sunrise Chime — slow ascending bells • Marimba Morning — a bright wooden melody • Harp Ascent — the gentlest option • Gentle Pulse — soft swelling tones • Urgent Alert — for very heavy sleepers Prefer your own? Pick any audio file on your phone and use it as an alarm. You can preview any sound before you commit to being woken by it. INCREMENTAL VOLUME On by default. The alarm starts quietly and rises to full volume over a period you choose, from 10 seconds to two minutes. Most mornings you will be awake before it gets loud. You can turn the fade off globally or override it for a single alarm. AWAKE DETECTION Also on by default. If you are already up and moving around in the half hour before your alarm, Cockerel notices and asks whether you still want it — one tap to skip it, one tap to keep it. It looks specifically for the rhythm of walking rather than any movement at all, so turning over in bed will never cancel your alarm. If you would rather it never asked, one switch in Settings turns it off entirely. NEXT ALARM WHERE YOU CAN SEE IT Alarms are registered with Android as real alarm clocks, so your next one appears on the lock screen and always-on display like the system clock's own. No need to unlock and check. HOME SCREEN WIDGETS Three to choose from: • Next alarm — the time, the label, and how long until it rings • All alarms — a scrollable list, tap any row to switch it on or off • Quick toggle — a compact tile that switches the next alarm on or off in one tap EVERYTHING ELSE YOU EXPECT • Repeat on any combination of days, or set a one-off alarm • Per-alarm labels, snooze length and vibration • Snooze and dismiss from the lock screen or the notification • Alarms survive reboots, app updates, and time zone changes • Automatically gives up after a while so a forgotten alarm is not left blaring • Light and dark themes, optional wallpaper-matched colours, 12- or 24-hour clock PRIVACY Your alarms stay on your device. Cockerel does not ask for your location, your contacts, or your microphone. Activity permission is only requested if you use awake detection, and only to read your step count and movement. The Cockerel and Dawn Chorus sounds are trimmed from public-domain field recordings; the remaining seven are synthesised for this app. Cockerel is free and supported by a single banner ad.
