Store description excerpt

That periodic chirp is real. ChirpHound helps you investigate it with a clear path from listening to a recorded follow-up. FOLLOW THE CHIRP • Listen: choose a frequency preset or use Auto Discover, let the background settle, and watch the signal. • Learn target: learn a numeric fingerprint from repeated chirps to help separate similar sounds. • Compare: collect repeated readings at named positions, then return to your original reference. Band energy and signal-to-noise quality have separate roles. • Inspect: record the device/model and location you physically observed, your own identification, and any action taken or planned. • Verify: keep the same microphone and target active for a chosen observation window and record what happens next. An interrupted observation cannot become a completed quiet result. KEEP THE EVIDENCE Each measured capture keeps its input segment, target, band energy, background estimate and exclusion reason. Changed inputs, clipping, low signal-to-noise readings and unconfirmed targets do not silently join a comparison. Saved searches can be resumed. Earlier hunts remain available with unknown measurement comparability. Export the guided ledger as CSV or a paginated field report PDF with observations, notes and follow-up status. Save failures are visible, and a previous local copy helps recover interrupted or unreadable storage. FIELD TOOLS WHEN YOU NEED THEM • Live spectrogram and 24-band Auto Discover • 15 frequency presets and a next-chirp clock • Manual chirp marks and pattern suggestions • HoundMap for user-placed measured checkpoints and separated coverage points • EchoMap for named room observations • Optional ChirpMesh sessions for timing and pattern observations from invited nearby devices • Hearing Assist options for visual, haptic, spoken and headphone cues • 18 original synthetic Signal Lab scenes, 43 Hidden Source Checklist entries and 16 focused field guides MEANINGFUL LIMITS Comparisons require one unchanged input and target, repeated readings, and a return to the reference. The app does not measure your movement, calibrate different microphones or infer a source probability, distance or stereo bearing. A pattern match does not identify the exact device. No matching chirp during a timed window is an observation, not proof of repair or safety. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Audio is analyzed live on the device and is not recorded or transmitted. No account, advertising, analytics or tracking. Search records stay in the app container unless you choose to share a report. Optional encrypted ChirpMesh sessions share compact numeric observations and entered zone labels directly with connected nearby devices. ChirpHound is a locating and reference aid, not a smoke alarm, carbon-monoxide alarm, calibrated sound-level meter or substitute for emergency action. If a real alarm is sounding, leave the area and follow its instructions. Device maintenance codes vary by manufacturer and model; consult the exact manual.
