Check by Check is a family tool for tracking tasks and building habits away from the screen. Check-ins happen on paper. The phone appears only to print and, now and then, to scan. Print a weekly check-in sheet. Put it on the fridge, the wall, or the desk. When a child finishes a task, they add a check—no phone needed on ordinary days. A parent scans the sheet, points go in automatically, and they can be redeemed for rewards the family already agreed on. How it works Choose tasks and family members, then create one weekly sheet with a QR code. Print it on A4, or share the PDF, and put it where a child can see it at a glance. When something is done, mark it with a pen. No unlocking a phone. No staring at a screen. After the week, a parent opens the scanner, aims at the sheet, and that’s it. Points go in automatically. Children do not need the phone day to day. Who it’s for If your home is spending its energy on these moments, Check by Check was made for that. Promises that never land. Homework, piano, packing the bag, an earlier bedtime: they agree in the room, then forget the moment they walk away. Bring it up, and they feel watched. Don’t, and the agreement turns into empty words. Nagging becomes the household language. “Did you do it?” several times a day. What children hear is only what is unfinished, not what they already did. The most common conversation becomes checking, explaining, and snapping. Rewards that cannot be counted. “If this week goes well, we’ll go out once” easily becomes two different stories: the child thinks they did it; the parent thinks they didn’t stick with it.
