Chatwell is an assistant you can ask anything. It answers on your phone itself, so nothing you type is ever sent anywhere. Most assistants send your questions into somebody else's computer and then keep them. There is an account with your name on it, a company holding what you wrote, and a record that lasts far longer than your interest in it. Chatwell does none of that. There is no account, no sign up, and no copy of your conversations anywhere except the phone in your hand. ASK IT ANYTHING Explain something in plain words. Help me write a message. What does this letter mean. Give me an idea for dinner. Check my spelling. What should I ask the doctor about. Settle an argument. Work this out for me. It answers in full sentences, in whatever tone you ask for, and it remembers what you told it earlier in the conversation. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE This is not a promise about how carefully we handle your information. We never receive it. Your questions are answered by your own phone, so there is nothing for us to store, nothing for us to sell, nothing to learn from, and nothing anybody can ask us to hand over. Turn on airplane mode and it still works exactly the same. That is the proof. PAY ONCE. IT IS YOURS One payment, before you ever open it. No subscription, nothing to renew, nothing to cancel, and no second thing to buy later. It keeps working whether or not we do. MADE TO BE EASY Tap one of the suggested questions and you have started. There is nothing to set up and nothing to learn. If the writing is small, you can make it larger in Settings, and see each size before you choose it. Every answer can be read aloud. You can tell it your name, what you spend your time on, and how you would like to be spoken to, and it will answer that way from then on. WHAT IT IS GOOD FOR, AND WHAT IT IS NOT Chatwell writes its answers rather than looking them up. It is very good at explaining, drafting, summarising, translating and working things out. It can be confidently wrong about recent events, exact numbers, names and dates. Please do not rely on it for medical, legal or financial decisions. If an answer matters, check it. SETTING UP The first time you open it, Chatwell brings over the files it needs to answer on its own. It happens once, it needs a connection, and Wi-Fi is easiest. You can close the app while it happens and it will carry on. After that it never needs a connection again. YOUR CHATS They are kept on your phone using the protection built into iOS, under a key that cannot be copied to iCloud or to another device. Deleting them destroys that key along with them, so there is no way to get them back afterwards. Not for you, not for us, not for anybody. There are no analytics in this app. Not the ordinary kind and not the kind described as privacy preserving. The absence is the feature. Made in the USA, in Arizona, by a small team.
