CardScanner turns a paper business card into an iOS contact—privately and entirely on your iPhone. No account. No sign-up. No ads. No server processing. The app’s two AI models are downloaded once during the initial setup. After the download is complete, CardScanner works entirely offline. HOW IT WORKS 1. Photograph a business card or import an existing photo. 2. CardScanner recognizes the text and uses an on-device language model to organize it into fields such as name, job title, company, phone number, email address, website, and address. 3. Review the result, correct anything if needed, and tap to save. CardScanner opens the native iOS New Contact form with the fields pre-filled for your confirmation. You can watch the process as it happens—from recognized text to structured contact fields. ON-DEVICE AI Both AI models run locally on your iPhone: • Text-recognition model: approximately 37 MB • Language model: approximately 493 MB • Total initial download: approximately 530 MB • Typical scan time: around three seconds Once the models are downloaded, you can enable Airplane Mode and continue scanning cards without an internet connection. PRIVACY AND DATA STORAGE Card photos are processed entirely within the app and saved only to the app’s local History. Each scan may include: • The original card photo • A thumbnail • Extracted contact fields • Raw recognized text This information remains in CardScanner’s local storage on your iPhone. It is not uploaded or synchronized. CardScanner does not: • Require an account or sign-up • Upload your cards to a server • Display ads • Collect analytics about your scans • Read or request access to your address book When saving a contact, CardScanner passes the pre-filled information to the native iOS New Contact form. You decide whether to tap Done or Cancel. iOS does not inform CardScanner which option you selected. MODEL DOWNLOAD AND NETWORK USE The two AI models are downloaded once during the initial setup. Wi-Fi is recommended because the combined download is approximately 530 MB. The download can be paused and resumed. You can also delete or re-download the models later from Settings. The open-source AI library used by CardScanner records limited technical information when downloading a model: • App bundle identifier • Platform • Library version • Model name • Country code derived from the device’s language settings This information does not contain personal data or any information from your business cards. The same disclosure is available on the Privacy screen inside the app. REVIEW AND EDIT Every AI-generated field is clearly marked, allowing you to see what was read directly from the card and what was inferred. CardScanner also checks email addresses, phone numbers, and websites for obvious formatting mistakes. If an unusual card cannot be structured automatically, the app still provides the recognized text and lets you manually assign individual lines to the appropriate contact
