The municipality of Capraia and Limite realized this digital application to guide tourists and visitors in the discovery of this territory. Thanks to the narration, it is possible to immerse oneself in a virtual journey through the beautiful churches and the austere Abbey, the unique and interesting archaeological sites, accompanied by nature trails suitable for families and also for people who want to try out more challenging biking and trekking routes. Moreover, you can also find in this application the history of the mysterious fortification of the Capraia Castle, small and suggestive middle age village, the Etrurian site of Montereggi, the Tomb of the “egg”; the Roman “Vetti’s” Villa with its mosaics of the second half of the IV century A.D., the Rowing Museum Mu.Re, dedicated to the history of shipbuilding and the nautical science in Italy, born in Limite sull’Arno, where the most ancient Italian rowing society was born: the Rowing Center Canottieri Limite. This application is a real guide for both events and traditions that take place in Capraia e Limite. Some of the most important examples are the “Palio dei Rioni con la Montata”, a traditional rowing race that takes place in Limite sull’Arno for 25 years, or the “Nave” the boat that connects Limite and Empoli through the river Arno, or the “Palio dei Rioni” of Capraia Fiorentina. These are just some examples of the events that our territory offers, in addition to a considerable number of accommodation facilities and services where it is possible to try delicious gastronomic specialities together with wine tasting occasions. For all the information about churches, abbeys and historical quotations an important thanks go to Mrs Daniela Pucci, vice-president of the Rowing Museum “Mario Pucci”, who makes available as a source her Master’s thesis, and to Lidia Tognetti, historical elementary teacher of our municipality, who has given us the possibility to use her publication “Limite sull’Arno e le sue chiese” (Limite sull’Arno and its churches).
