Store description excerpt
Canadian Retirement Planning is an educational retirement-modelling app for Canadians. Enter your current age, retirement age, target spending, province, and account balances — then watch a year-by-year simulation show how your RRSP, TFSA, and non-registered accounts would drain across 30, 40, or 50 years of retirement. FOR ENTERTAINMENT AND EDUCATION ONLY MapleRetire is not financial, tax, or investment advice. Real decisions about your money should involve a qualified financial advisor, accountant, or tax professional who can review your full situation. See the "About" screen for full details. WHAT IT DOES - Year-by-year retirement draw down simulation from your current age through age 105 - Bridge-phase RRSP "meltdown" strategy — pulls RRSP dollars out during your low-tax retirement years before OAS starts, and reinvests the surplus into TFSA (up to your annual contribution room) and a non-registered cash sleeve - Whole-unit sales of individual equity positions - Emergency liquidation pass so no dollar is left "stranded" when spending needs it - Government income tracking — CPP, OAS (with clawback), and employer pensions WHAT'S UNDER THE HOOD - 2025 federal + provincial tax brackets for all 10 provinces and 3 territories - OAS recovery tax (clawback) — 15% of income above the threshold, capped at your OAS benefit - RRIF minimum-withdrawal factors from age 71 through 95+ - Capital gains at 50% inclusion (RRSP/RRIF ordinary income; TFSA tax-free) - Age amount and pension-income tax credits - Inflation-adjusted spending targets and benefit escalation VISUAL RESULTS - Stacked area chart showing RRSP (bottom), TFSA (middle), and non-registered (top) balances over the plan horizon — the top edge equals your total portfolio - Year-by-year table with RRSP withdrawal, TFSA withdrawal, non-reg withdrawal, government income, tax paid, and any TFSA/non-reg deposits from RRSP meltdown surplus - Tap any non-registered withdrawal to see exactly which equities the model would sell that year - Tap any deposit to see how the surplus splits between TFSA and non-reg cash PORTFOLIO INPUT - Add individual non-registered holdings with ticker, units, and cost basis - Add cash positions (HISA, brokerage cash sleeve) at a user-set interest rate - Live prices and FX rates pulled from Yahoo Finance on demand — never stored in your profile file - "Estimate from market history" pulls 10 years of monthly closes and computes the realized CAGR to suggest an expected return CSV IMPORT — LIMITED INSTITUTION SUPPORT Portfolio CSV upload is currently designed for exports from RBC Direct Investing, TD Direct Investing, and Wealthsimple only — the three Canadian institutions whose export formats we have been able to validate. Other brokerage formats may fail to parse, or may parse incorrectly. If your institution isn't listed, you can still enter accounts and holdings by hand on the Plan tab.
