Store description excerpt

Calmus is a calm, private space for the thoughts most apps don't know what to do with — the ones about mortality, meaning, and why any of this matters. Everyone gets existential thoughts sometimes. For most people, they pass through and fade. For others, they're repetitive, intrusive, and hard to stop — closer to a compulsion than a passing worry. Calmus meets you wherever you are, with two different approaches: EVERYDAY — grounding, perspective, and reflective content for occasional spirals at quiet moments. CLINICAL — uncertainty-tolerance exercises built on exposure and response prevention (ERP), the evidence-based approach for intrusive, repetitive existential and OCD-adjacent thoughts. Instead of more reassurance, you get practice sitting with the question — because reassurance-seeking is often the compulsion itself. A short check-in during setup suggests where to start. You can switch anytime. WHAT'S INSIDE • Anchor Now — a 2-5 minute grounding session with a slow breathing visual and track-specific guidance, whenever a thought needs somewhere to go. • Explore — a growing library of short, original reflections on mortality, meaning, groundlessness, and sleep, filterable by theme and length. • Spiral Log — a fast, private log of what you're feeling and when, so patterns become visible over time. Exportable to bring to a therapist. • Uncertainty Practice — structured exposure sessions for the clinical track, with urge tracking instead of resolution. DESIGNED WITH CARE Calmus never diagnoses you, and it isn't a replacement for therapy. A visible, always-available path to crisis resources (988) and a real OCD provider directory (IOCDF) is built in. There are no streaks, no badges, no points — this is a space to be honest in, not another thing to perform at. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything you log stays on your device. No accounts, no analytics, no ad tracking, nothing sent anywhere unless you choose to export it yourself. Named for Albert Camus, whose philosophy of the absurd was never about resolving unanswerable questions — just making peace with carrying them.
