Calcutta International Club, is a heritage club, located in the heart of the City of Joy, in Shakespeare Sarani, formerly Theatre Road. The main club house, built over a hundred years ago, has its own charm and attraction. For its members, the club offers facilities like wine & dine, tennis, snooker, darts, cards, library, banquet, guest rooms, a sprawling lawn, and a spacious parking lot. A number of old trees, surrounding the club, creates a nostalgia that is reminiscent of its glorious heritage. Over the years, the club has been graced by a number of legends of national and international repute. Those were the days when a fairly large contingent of Swiss National resided in Calcutta. While quite a few came here to work for various European Companies and Swiss Consulate, many had set up their own business as well. Those were in diversified professions. For example there were Tea Rooms like Flury's, Arizona, Ferazini, PAX which served excellent Cakes, Pastries and Chocolates. Then there were some firms dealing in Swiss Watches. Ch. Abrecht was certainly the Premier. some members may still remember Vol Kart Brothers which eventually merged with Tatas and Called themselves Voltas. Calcutta International Club offers well designed rooms for its guests. Be it a Business Traveller or a family on vacation, it is an ideal place to stay and relax. The Club offers two rooms, one is the International Room, the other room is the Swiss Room. Both rooms have all the modern luxurious facilities for a comfortable stay. The Club staff is well trained to handle all requirements from the guests to make their stay a memorable one. The services provided are truly of international standards. The club offers it members various facilities like wine & dine, guest rooms, banquet, a sprawling lawn and a spacious parking lot. The library at the club is well stocked with a wide range of books from well known authors. The books are from various genres, it is a place where the young and old both like to spend quality time.
