Bug Season answers a question no weather app does: not "is tonight bad", but "which weeks of the year are bad, and because of what". Pick a place — your property, a campsite, a stretch of river — tell it what's on the ground, and see the whole year at once. Black flies in June. Deer flies taking over in July. Ticks running quietly from April to November. And the weeks when none of them are. SEVEN GROUPS, TRACKED SEPARATELY Mosquitoes, black flies, ticks, deer and horse flies, no-see-ums, stable flies and chiggers each have their own season. Lumping them together is how you end up surprised. HABITAT IS THE ANSWER, NOT THE ADDRESS Black flies breed only in moving water. Stable flies come off beach wrack. Chiggers want brushy edge, not deep forest. Tell Bug Season what's actually there and the answer changes — because in reality it does.
