Bring Your LM (BYLM) is a client for building AI agents on the language-model providers you connect. It isn’t a chatbot with an assistant built in — you connect a provider, pick a model, and build agents that use it. CONNECT A PROVIDER BYLM talks to the language-model services you already use: - Any OpenAI-compatible API — OpenAI, OpenRouter, and most hosted or self-hosted gateways. - Anthropic’s Claude API. - A local Ollama or llama.cpp server on your machine or network. - It can also run smaller models directly on the device when you have no server to point at. BUILD AGENTS, NOT JUST CHATS Create agents with a chosen model, a system prompt, and sampling and reasoning settings. Give them tools: fetch any HTTP API (typed parameters, request bodies, templated URLs, output filtering, rate-limit retry), a private memory, or the ability to ask you questions mid-conversation and call other agents. AGENTS THAT CONFIGURE THEMSELVES With the management tools attached, an agent can set itself and its workspace up: inspect the tool catalog, build and test its own fetch tools, and create, edit and retire the other agents in its workspace — discovering your configured providers and their models to wire them up correctly. Secrets stay out of its context. ORGANIZE WITH WORKSPACES Group your agents, tools and conversations into workspaces, each with its own defaults and default agent. Switch scope in one tap and keep separate projects apart. WORK IN THE BACKGROUND Replies run as background jobs. Leave the chat or close the app and the reply keeps generating, then notifies you when it’s ready or needs your input. Several conversations can run at once, and a Jobs screen shows everything in flight. AND MORE - Auto-generated conversation titles and summaries - Smart context management so long chats don’t silently lose their start - Attach text files and photos - Search your conversations by their content - A redesigned composer with Markdown preview and spell check PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Your data stays on your device. API keys are held in the operating system’s keystore and are never shown to the model. IMPORTANT: This app does not include AI, free or paid. To use it you connect an account with a language-model provider — an API key for a compatible service, or a server on your network. It’s built for people who want to experiment with different models and build their own agents, not for a ready-made assistant that works without setup.
