Brelani is the digital field companion built for practicing archaeologists. Replace paper context sheets with a structured trench register that captures every stratigraphic unit — its type, soil matrix, depth, phase, and notes — and keeps your record audit-ready from the first trowel stroke to the last. At the heart of Brelani is a live Harris Matrix engine. As you log contexts and record stratigraphic relations between them, the app continuously computes the sequence, detects cycles, strips redundant edges, and propagates terminus post quem dates upward through the matrix. The result is a zoomable, pannable matrix diagram that updates in real time — no more hand-drawing or re-drafting after every correction. The Faults screen monitors nine categories of stratigraphic error, from circular sequences and contradictory relation pairs to unfilled cuts and phase straddles. Each fault is explained in plain field-manual language with a one-tap link to the offending context or relation so you can resolve problems before they compound. The Section screen lets you photograph the trench face and drop numbered pins directly onto the image, building an annotated photographic record tied to your context register. Finds are logged by class against the context they came from, and each find class carries a date bracket that feeds directly into the terminus post quem calculation. Brelani works entirely offline. There is no account to create, no subscription, and no data leaves the device. Whether you are recording a mudbrick tell in the Nile Delta or a terrace deposit in a highland wadi, your record stays on-site, under your control, and ready to export when fieldwork ends.
