Breathe is a modern, open-source Android application designed to monitor real-time Air quality data across the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh region. Built using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, Breathe offers a fluid, expressive interface following Material Design 3 standards. Why Breathe? Breathe provides localized air quality data by combining crowdsourced and open ground sensors with satellite modeling. Our goal is to offer accurate environmental data for the JK & Ladakh region in an open-source and transparent manner. Data Sources & Methodology Breathe aggregates data from multiple independent, publicly available sources: Local Sensors: For the Srinagar and Jammu regions, Breathe utilizes crowdsourced ground sensors from AirGradient (https://www.airgradient.com/) to provide real-time PM2.5 and PM10 readings. Environmental Models: For other pollutant concentrations and the remaining districts, Breathe integrates data from Open-Meteo (https://open-meteo.com/), an open-data meteorological provider. Calculations: AQI values are calculated based on established US-EPA and Indian National AQI (NAQI) standards. Important Disclaimer Breathe is an independent, Free and Open Source (FOSS) project.
