Store description excerpt
Little Languages gives a child seventeen languages to explore, each one set in its own animated world. Café Paris has rooftops and city lights. Zen Garden drifts with blossom. Savanna Trail glows at sunset, Kente Market flies festival bunting, and Dragon Palace hangs with swaying lanterns. Every world is drawn and animated inside the app, so the whole thing feels like a place rather than a list. Lessons are laid out as a winding trail rather than a wall of rows. Children follow it from chapter to chapter with a friendly guide waiting at the next stop, so it is always obvious where they are and where they are going. Along the way they meet words on flip cards, hear them or read how to say them, then answer quick questions built for small hands: big tappable choices, and letter tiles for spelling so nobody has to hunt for accented characters on a keyboard. The seven African languages are full courses, not a phrasebook — the same twelve levels and thousands of lessons as every other language, written in proper orthography, from Yoruba's tone marks to Amharic's Ge'ez script. We are straight with you about pronunciation. Where Apple provides a voice for a language, you hear a real one, spoken slowly. Where it does not — which is the case for every African language — the app stays quiet rather than guessing. We tried a substitute voice and removed it after a native speaker told us it was well off the mark; tone in particular is something no stand-in voice can carry. Those lessons show a clear written "say it like this" guide instead, because a word taught wrongly is worse than a word not spoken. Grown-ups get a gated area of their own. Behind a simple multiplication question, a parent chooses exactly which languages appear on their child's home screen, so a family learning two languages sees two, not seventeen. Progress is always kept, whatever is switched on. ### WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT - Seventeen languages, each with its own animated world, mascot and greeting - Swahili, Twi, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Zulu and Amharic as full courses - A lesson trail to follow, with chapters, stars and a daily goal ring - Flip cards, tap-to-answer questions and spelling tiles — no keyboard needed - Real voices where they exist; an honest written guide where they don't — never a fake one - Grown-ups area to choose which languages your child sees - Hearts that offer a hint instead of ending the game - Works in light and dark, supports larger text, and respects Reduce Motion - Progress saved on device — streak, XP, words learned and per-language mastery ### HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a world — seventeen to choose from. 2. Choose a level and follow the trail to the next lesson. 3. Meet each word on a flip card, and hear it or read how to say it. 4. Answer by tapping — choices or letter tiles, never a keyboard. 5. Earn stars, keep the streak alive, and grow your mastery.
