There is nothing new to charge and nothing extra to carry: if your phone can reach the speaker, it can become your mic. For the cleanest sound, keep the phone away from the speaker so the mic does not pick up the output and create feedback (that whistling squeal). A wired connection or AirPlay usually feels tighter than Bluetooth.
