Blodgassappen is an educational analysis and learning tool for healthcare professionals and students with a relevant professional background. The app is in Norwegian. You enter a blood gas you have already obtained - by scanning the analyzer printout, pasting values, or typing them in - and the app shows how it is read: which acid-base disturbance the numbers describe, how the anion gap and compensation are calculated, which differential diagnoses the pattern is compatible with, and what cannot be determined from what was entered. The purpose is to teach the method. HOW IT WORKS - Scan the printout: point the camera at the paper printout from the blood gas analyzer and the values are read in automatically. - Or paste / type the values manually. - The app walks through the systematic method: primary disturbance, compensation, anion gap with albumin correction, delta assessment, and differential diagnoses. - Everything is calculated in the open - you see which formulas are used, which reference limits apply, and where they come from. WHAT THE APP EMPHASIZES - The method, not the answer key: the app shows the reasoning behind every step, the way an experienced colleague would explain it. - Honesty about uncertainty: when a value is missing, the app clearly states what cannot be assessed - it never fills in silent assumptions. - Serial gases: enter several gases from the same clinical course and see how the picture evolves over time. - Share and teach: export the analysis as slides or share a gas as a QR code for teaching. FOR WHOM Physicians, nurses, paramedics, and students who want to become more confident in systematic blood gas interpretation. IMPORTANT The app is not a medical device and is not approved by regulatory agencies (FDA/EMA or the Norwegian Medical Products Agency) for diagnostic purposes. It does not assess any patient and makes no clinical decision. All patient assessment must be done by qualified healthcare personnel exercising independent clinical judgment. All computation happens locally on the device. No patient-identifying data is sent to any server.
