BlinkTalk is a free communication app to help immobile people to communicate. It is designed for people who can intentionally make one reliable movement, such as looking up (preferred) or blinking, or clicking a button; but who cannot easily speak or operate a standard keyboard. BlinkTalk uses single-switch scanning. Options are highlighted one at a time, and the highlighted option is selected when the user signals. The signal can be detected through the device camera, or entered by a helper tapping anywhere on the screen. On Windows, a helper can also click the mouse or press the Space bar. Using this single signal, the user can: * Select predicted words * Spell words using an on-screen scanning keyboard * Build complete sentences * Speak sentences aloud using text-to-speech * Adjust scanning speed to suit their ability BlinkTalk includes word prediction to reduce how much input is needed. It uses a built-in dictionary and learns the user's vocabulary and common word combinations over time, placing likely words first. The app supports Windows, Android, iOS and Mac Catalyst. It is intended for use by people with severe physical disabilities, their families, carers and communication assistants. BlinkTalk does not require specialist switch hardware. Its purpose is simple: to help someone communicate using whatever reliable signal they can still control.
